These patients were divided equally into the experimental group, which received the researcher’s nursing programme along with normal nursing care, and the control group, which received only normal nursing care. However, five of the patients—3 in the experimental group and 2 in the control group—quit participating in this study. The data, therefore, were collected from 22 from the experimental group and 23 from the control group. The instruments used in this study consisted of (i) a nursing care programme; (ii) a planned lesson for therapeutic abortion patients; and (iii) a set of healthcare guidelines for therapeutic abortion patients. The data were collected using a personal information questionnaire and a Stress Assessment Indication (STAI) form and analysed using descriptive statistics, Chi-square tests and Fisher’s exact test. The experimental and control groups’ average levels of stress were then compared using an independent T-test. Results: The experimental group displayed a significantly lower average level of stress (p < 0.01) than did the control group. Recommendations: It is suggested that nurses apply this programme to the therapeutic abortion patients under their care, as the programme has been proved effective in reducing stress.
ER -
