The sample wasdivided into a control group receiving usual care and an experimental group receiving the ICUtransferred-preparation program with 30 patients each. The instruments for data collection wereconsisted of a demographic characteristics data from, Pre-Transfer Anxiety Inventory (Pre-TAI), Post-Transfer Anxiety Inventory (Post -TAI) and satisfaction questionnaires. The data were analyzed by usingfrequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Chi-square test, and t-test.

Main finding: The results showed that both transfer anxiety scores prior to and after thetransferred periods in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group (p <.05). However, the satisfaction scores in the experimental group was not significantly higher than that inthe control group (p > .05).

Conclusion and recommendations: The results suggest that using the ICU transferred –preparation program for patients with coronary artery bypass graft and valvular heart replacement/repair helps improve quality of care and decrease the anxiety of patients who were transferred from ICU.The program should be encouraged for use in a routine nursing practice with this group of patients.
ER -
