These children were admitted to the QueenSirikit National Institute of Child Health due to certain complications. Eligible subjects had to be femaleand had bloody relation to the children. The subjects selected by convenience sampling were dividedinto control and experimental groups with 15 each. The control group received usual care while theexperimental group received the knowledge and self-efficacy enhancement program for 5 consecutivedays. The program contained a set of activities based on the sources of self-efficacy proposed byBandura. The instruments consisted of demographic data form and self-efficacy in providing care forchildren with acyanotic congenital heart disease questionnaire. Data were analyzed by using descriptivestatistics and independent t-test.

Main findings: Results revealed that the baseline self-efficacy scores in both groups of the studywere not significantly different (p > .05). After participating in the program, mean self-efficacy score ofcaregivers in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group (t = -6.705, p< .001).

Conclusion and recommendations: These results indicated that the knowledge and self-efficacyenhancement program had positive effect in raising self-efficacy of caregivers of children with acyanoticcongenital heart disease. A further application of the program should be promoted and implemented innursing practice to assist caregivers of children with congenital heart disease.

ER -
