Human Resource Management by Saraniyadhamma 6 of Head Nurses and Teamwork as Perceived by Registered Nurses in Community Hospitals, Southern Thailand

Abstract
The purposes of this correlational descriptive research were to study (1) human resource management by Saraniyadhamma 6 of head nurses, (2) teamwork as perceived by registered nurses, and (3) the relationship between human resource management by Saraniyadhamma 6 and teamwork of registered nurses working in community hospitals, southern Thailand. The sample comprised 361 registered nurses were selected by non purposive sampling without replacement in community hospitals, southern Thailand. The instrument comprised 3 parts: part 1 covered demographic data; part 2 was human resource management by Saraniyadhamma 6 of head nurses as perceived by registered nurses, which was developed based on Saraniyadhamma 6's concept by Prapromkunaporn and human resource management by Lunenburg & Ornstein's concept, and part 3 was a teamwork questionnaire which was modified based on Romig's concept. The instrument was tested for content validity by 3 experts and reliability was tested using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, which yielded overall values of 0.97 and 0.95 respectively. The data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and Pearson's product moment correlation coefficient.
The results showed that the mean scores of human resource management by Saraniyadhamma 6 of head nurses (M=3.49, SD=0.66) and of teamwork (M=3.64, SD=0.64) as perceived by registered nurses were at a moderate level. Human resource management by Saraniyadhamma 6 of head nurses and teamwork was found statistically positively correlated. (r=0.78; p-value <0.01)
The results of the study can be used as baseline data for nurse administrators to encourage head nurses to increase their understanding and awareness of human resource management by Saraniyadhamma 6 and working with an effective teamwork for a high performance organization.
