The death involved all emergency procedures. ASA class IV-V accounted for 91.4% (n = 53) of the death. Bleeding (43.1%) and neuropathology (31%) were the commonest underlying causes of death. Effective communication between the anesthetic and surgical teams for adequate preoperative care, improvement in blood bank and hospital facilities will reduce the rate of perioperative death.</p> ER -
