Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the master of science in medical sciences curriculum (revised 2007), Faculty of Medicine,Thammasat University. The evaluation was determined the appropriateness divided in three sections; input,process and product.

Method: This study was research evaluation. The target population were three responsible curriculum’s teachers,31 instructors, 9 students (2007 - 2010), 2 alumni (2008 - 2010) and 1 alumni’s supervisor. The datawere collected by questionnaire, interview and document review. The data were analyzed by frequency,percentage and content analysis. The criteria for determining the appropriateness based on informationfrom 50 percent of population choosed the more appropriate level or above, meet the relevant criteria.

Results: The study indicated that the majority of curriculum was appropriate but some issues should beimproved. Input: philosophy, purpose, structure, content and instructors were appropriate but studentqualification, number of the admitted students and facilities such as the number of classroom andlaboratory equipment should be improved. Process: learning process, assessment and administrationwere appropriate. However, the provision of scholarship, research fund and public relations of theprogram should be improved. Product: the graduates were appropriate according to the curriculumobjectives. However, the graduate should be developed the ability in using technology and the graduatecharacteristics should be evaluated.

Conclusion: The master of science in medical sciences curriculum (revised 2007), Faculty of Medicine,Thammasat University was appropriate. But there were some issues should be improved to make thecourse even better.
