Abstract

Introduction: The objectives of this study were to examine the system of the administrative work of the departmentof clinical science, faculty of Medicine, Thammasat University, and to examine the satisfaction of useron correspondent service of administrative work as well as to propose the work development guidelinefor more effectiveness. The target group included administrators, professors and officers, totally 64 persons.

Method: The study was conducted in 2 phases by action research which each phase was comprised of planning,action, observation and reflection. The questionnaire and interview were used. The first phase wascollected during April - August 2012 and the second phase was collected during September - December2012. It was analyzed for percentage and mean frequency.

Result: It was found that 1. the examination on problem and obstacle of administrative work in the area ofresource found that the number of officers was inadequate and their responsibility level was low.Regarding office equipment, though the number was sufficient, they were not used productively. Whilethe facility is suitable. In the area of implementing procedure, it was found that the officers had excessiveworkload in duplicating documents and too complicated procedures causing unnecessary complexcooperation. Similar problem was also found as there was inadequate officer to provide service whichresults in the absence of the follow-up. 2. the satisfaction of user on resources was generally at themedium level. The satisfaction in the area of procedure in work practice was generally at the high level.While the satisfaction of user on services and resources were generally in the middle level.

Discussion and Conclusion: The study on the development of administrative work was found that the number of officers was inadequate and their responsibility level was low. Regarding office equipment, though the number wassufficient, they were not used productively. The officers had excessive workload in duplicating documentsand too complicated procedures causing unnecessary complex cooperation. Similar problem was alsofound as there was inadequate officer to provide service which results in the absence of the follow-up.The satisfaction of user on procedure was at high level, while the others were generally at medium level.
