The prevalence and factors related to utilization on traditional Thai massage clinics at Khlong Song Khlong Luang, Pathumthani

Abstract

Introduction: The claimed benefits of Thai massage include relief from isometric and tendon contraction of body. Thai massage is a choice of medical treatment without using any medicines. In addition, The Thai massage is an intelligence of locality. It,s support the people to avoid the medical treatment and this choice is better way to save money as the result many peoples return to take the Thai massage. The objectives of this study were to study the factors regarding demographic characteristics that affected purchasing decision on Thai massage service, and to study the prevalence that related to purchasing decision on Thai massage service in Khlong Song Khlong Luang, Pathumthani as a result of this study showed the most of the people from this area took that service more than another, so It will be used that for developing Thai massage service of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine clinic.

Method: The instrument used to collect the data was a questionnaire by the simple random sampling. The samples were 378 peoples over age 20 years old in Khlong Song Khlong Luang, Pathumthani.

Result: The prevalence of utilizing Thai traditional massage was 48% for the factors consuming Thai massage from traditional massager found that those who had good attitude towards Thai massage would seek for the services from the traditional massagers at the temple or foundations were highest number, Following with those consuming the services from the government hospitals and health centers; for those who consumed the services from the private massage was the least, they would utilized the massage mostly in the morning, for those who consumed the massage in the afternoon consumed at
the government hospital, health centers, temples and the foundation.

Discussion and Conclusion: 48% of the studied people used to utilize Thai massage were those who had good attitude towards Thai massage, and had available related to the Thai massage services which were free after time house. So it is suggested that the Thai massage places should extend the house for the patient's convenience.

บทคัดย่อ

บทนำ: การนวดแผนไทยสามารถบรรเทาอาการเจ็บปวดของร่างกายที่เกิดจากการแข็งเกร็งของกล้ามเนื้อและเส้นเอ็น และเป็นวิธีการรักษาอีกทางเลือกหนึ่งที่ไม่ใช้ยา ซึ่งเป็นการใช้ภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่น ทíำให้ประชาชนหลีกเลี่ยงการใช้ยาที่เป็นอันตรายต่อร่างกายอีกทั้งยังมีค่าใช้จ่ายน้อย จึงทำให้ประชาชนหันกลับมาใช้บริการนวดเพิ่มมากขึ้น การศึกษานี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความชุกการใช้บริการนวดแผนไทยของประชาชนในตำบลคลองสอง อำเภอคลองหลวง จังหวัดปทุมธานี และปัจจัยที่สัมพันธ์กับการเลือกใช้สถานบริการนวดแผนไทย เนื่องจากประชาชนในเขตพื้นที่ดังกล่าวมาเลือกใช้บริการที่คลินิกแพทย์แผนไทยประยุกต์มากที่สุด ผลการศึกษาครั้งนี้จะนำไปพัฒนาการให้บริการในคลินิกแพทย์แผนไทยประยุกต์ต่างๆ

วิธีการศึกษา: เป็นการศึกษาแบบสำรวจด้วยการใช้แบบสอบถามกับกลุ่มตัวอย่างในตำบลคลองสอง อำเภอคลองหลวง จังหวัดปทุมธานี ที่มีอายุตั้งแต่ ๒๐ ปีขึ้นไป ด้วยการสุ่มตัวอย่างเป็นระบบ จำนวน ๓๗๘ คน

ผลการศึกษา: พบว่าความชุกการใช้บริการนวดแผนไทยร้อยละ ๔๘ ด้านปัจจัยที่สัมพันธ์กับการเลือกใช้สถานบริการนวดแผนไทย พบว่า ผู้มีทัศนคติที่ดีต่อการนวดแผนไทยจะเลือกใช้สถานบริการนวดแผนไทยที่เป็นหมอนวดพื้นบ้าน วัด หรือมลูนิธิ มากที่สุด รองลงมา ไดแ้ ก่ โรงพยาบาลของรัฐหรือสถานีอนามัยและเลือกใช้รา้ นนวดของเอกชนน้อยสุดในขณะที่ผู้ใช้บริการร้านนวดเอกชนนิยมเลือกใช้บริการช่วงเช้า ผู้ที่สะดวกใช้บริการช่วงเวลาเย็นเลือกใช้สถานบริการนวดแผนไทยที่เป็นโรงพยาบาลของรัฐหรือสถานีอนามัย หมอพื้นบ้าน วัด หรือมูลนิธิมักเลือกใช้บริการช่วงเย็น

วิจารณ์ และสรุปผลการศึกษา: กลุ่มตัวอย่างประมาณร้อยละ ๔๘ เคยใช้บริการนวดแผนไทย มีทัศนคติดีต่อการนวดแผนไทย และช่วงเวลาที่สะดวกใช้บริการมีความสัมพันธ์กับการเลือกใช้สถานบริการนวดแผนไทย คือ ช่วงเวลาเย็นหลังเลิกงาน ดังนั้น สถานบริการนวดแผนไทยควรขยายเวลาบริการในช่วงเวลาที่ประชาชนสะดวก
