Abstract

Introduction: To improve the service system of research laboratories and an experimental animal unit at the faculty of medicine, Thammasat university, thus this research aimed to study the current situation of the laboratory service system and the knowledge of users regarding the service.

Method: The target population of this study was the users using the research laboratory facilities at faculty of medicine, Thammasat university during October 1, 2014 to January 30, 2015. Of 195 users whom questionnaires were sent to, a total of 101 users, which included academic staff, officer, postgraduate and undergraduate students and research assistant, responded questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics.

Result: Most respondents correctly understood the basic regulation of the laboratory services. 23% of respondents suggested to have more publicizing of the online services. The user demand in improvement of the laboratory facilities was moderate level in all aspects. The respondents recommended some troubleshooting and some guidance to improve in many aspects of the service system.

Discussion and Conclusion: The majority of user suggested that the online laboratory-usage system should have more and accessible publicizing. They also recommended the service providers to improve the service system of the research laboratories and the experimental animal unit in order to correlate with the demand of service users.
