Women who are overweight pre-pregnancy have been suggested to have a higher risk of diabetes mellitus, pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH), and large for gestational age (LGA). Weight control behavior during pregnancy consists of diet regulation and exercise which must be done in parallel. This article has reviewed the literature in diet regulation, exercise and guidelines to promote weight control behaviors during pregnancy in pregnant women with a high body mass index.
