This descriptive study was therefore conducted to identify the level of QWL of nurse educators and examine associated and predicting factors. The sample was composed of 203 nurse educators at 5 nursing colleges of Praboromarajchanok Institute, Central Network 1. A self-administered questionnaire of 2 sets of questions was used to collect the data. Part 1 related to demographic data while Part 2 comprised study factors including job characteristics, perceived organizational culture, organizational climate, organizational commitment, and quality of working life. The questionnaire items used a 5 rating scale form, with Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of reliability giving values .88, .92, .94, .91 and .96, respectively, for each factor. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed that 1) the level of overall QWL was high (Mean = 3.67 SD = .53); 2) extra income, job characteristics, perceived organizational culture, organizational climate, and organizational commitment had significant positive relationships with QWL (r = .248, .508, .755, .796, .793, p < 0.01 respectively) while amount of time performing clinical teaching had negative relationships with QWL (r = -.277, p < 0.01); and 3) organizational climate, organizational commitment, and extra income explained 80.1% of QWL (R2 = 0.801, F = 4.176, p < .05). The findings suggest that administrators should seek strategies and innovations to foster a better organizational climate and organizational commitment, as well as support the nurse educators to get some work that provide extra income in order to increase their QWL and increase effectiveness of work in return.

Keywords: Quality of Working Life; Nursing educators

*Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Chonburi ; e-mail : kmrturner@gmail.com

**Nursing, Suandusit University

***Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Chang Wat Nonthaburi
**** Faculty of Nursing, Vongchavalitkul University ER -
