The 30 samples of this study are Traditional Thai medicines which were collected by stratified sampling. Then the appearance was accidental sampling. Adulterated of steroids was investigated by using a series of preliminary steroid testing kits of the Department of Medical Sciences with the Thin-layer chromatography (TLC) technique.</p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The results showed that 30 samples of Traditional Thai medicines in Ubon Ratchathani Province were under the inclusion criteria. They were Traditional Thai medicines using for the treatment of circulatory disorder symptoms for 5 samples, cough medicine for 7 samples and analgesic for 18 samples. The recipes No.5 (cough medicine) was adulterated with prednisolone, at a concentration of 0.041 ± 0.005 mg/g and other 3 samples consist of the recipes No.9 (treatment of circulatory disorder) symptoms, No.14 (analgesic) and No.26 (analgesic) were adulterated with dexamethasone, at the concentration of 0.025 ± 0.005, 0.045 ± 0.006, 0.025 ± 0.007 mg/g respectively.</p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; This study can be concludes that steroids were adulterated in the samples of Traditional Thai medicines from selling-drug car, flea market, market stall, even drugs store. So, Ministry of Public Health and related organizations should be strict monitoring to increase safety of medication.</p> ER -
