Prevalence and factors related musculoskeletal disorders among solid waste collectors in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province

This study was a cross-sectional descriptive study. The purpose of this research was to determine factors associated with work-related musculoskeletal disorders among solid waste collectors. The data was collected by using an interview form consisted of personal characteristics, working information, Thai job content questionnaires (Thai – JCQ) and Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire among 66 solid waste collectors. The results of this study were found that most of the solid waste collectors were male (90.9%). The average age of solid waste collectors was 42.45 (±11.98) years. The prevalence of the musculoskeletal disorders of the solid waste collectors over the past 12 month was (77.3 %). ln the past 12 month, the most common part of the body with musculoskeletal disorders was the waist/lower back (77.3 %) followed by the shoulder (75.8 %) and upper (63.6 %) respectively. The results of this study were revealed that there were statistically significant between Psychological job demand (p-value = 0.002), Physical job demand (p-value = 0.030) in the past 12 month and work-related musculoskeletal disorders among solid waste collectors.
