A Comparison of Life Assets Between Pregnant and Non-experienced Pregnant Adolescents

Abstract


The purposes of this study were to describe life assets and examine the life asset differentness between pregnant and non-experienced pregnant adolescents. The sample were 100 pregnant adolescents and 100 non-experienced pregnant adolescents aged 10 – 19 year olds. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and independent t-test.


          The results showed that overall life assets, pregnant adolescents were at fair level (64.73%). Each aspect life assets found that the power of family was at good level (72.04%);  the power of wisdom and the power of self were at fair levels (66.88% and 66.80%  respectively); the power of peer and activity and the power of community were not passing criteria  (59.61% and 59.19% respectively). For non-experienced pregnant adolescents, the overall life assets were at good level (71.16 %). Among each aspect life assets found that the power of family was at very good level (81.58 %); the power of wisdom and the power of self were at good levels (71.70% and 71.40% respectively); the power of community and the peer and activity were at fair levels (68.33 % and 65.22 % respectively). All aspect of life assets among non-experienced pregnant adolescents were significantly higher than those in pregnant adolescents at .05. Results of the study contribute to knowledge and understanding life assets. It will be beneficial to nurses or health personnel to enhance all life assets to prevent pregnancy among Thai female adolescents.
