คลินิกพยาบาลชุมชนอบอุ่นเป็นสถานบริการสุขภาพระดับปฐมภูมิที่ให้บริการ โดยไม่เรียกเก็บค่าบริการประชาชนคนไทยที่มีบัตรประกันสุขภาพถ้วนหน้าในระบบหลักประกันสุขภาพแห่งชาติ คลินิกพยาบาลชุมชนอบอุ่นให้บริการตามกฎหมายวิชาชีพการพยาบาลและการผดุงครรภ์ ขอบเขตและกิจกรรมที่สำนักงานหลักประกันสุขภาพแห่งชาติกำหนดไว้ โดยครอบคลุมการให้บริการสร้างเสริมสุขภาพและป้องกันโรค การให้บริการพยาบาลพื้นฐาน การบริการดูแลสุภาพที่บ้าน การรักษาโรคเบื้องต้น และเวชภัณฑ์ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับกิจกรรมการพยาบาล นอกจากพยาบาลผู้ประกอบการต้องใช้ความรู้และทักษะทางการพยาบาลและการผดุงครรภ์ ยังต้องมีความรู้และความเข้าใจในการประกอบการและการบริหารธุรกิจร่วมด้วย
แบบจำลองธุรกิจ Canvas (The Business Model Canvas) เป็นแนวคิดการออกแบบ วางแผน และดำเนินธุรกิจที่สามารถช่วยให้ผู้ประกอบการมองเห็นภาพรวมและความเชื่อมโยงขององค์ประกอบทางธุรกิจและมีความเข้าใจในทิศทางเดียวกันและสามารถใช้ในการวิเคราะห์เพื่อปรับกลยุทธ์ต่อยอดให้กับกิจการได้ และเพื่อให้พยาบาลวิชาชีพที่สนใจในการเป็นผู้ประกอบการคลินิกพยาบาลชุมชนอบอุ่นรายใหม่มองเห็นภาพการประกอบการมากยิ่งขึ้น จึงขอเสนอแบบจำลองธุรกิจ Canvas มาใช้เป็นเครื่องมือในการออกแบบ และวางแผนภาพการประกอบการคลินิกพยาบาลชุมชนอบอุ่น และสามารถอธิบายองค์ประกอบที่สำคัญทางกลยุทธ์ในการประกอบการคลินิกพยาบาลชุมชนอบอุ่นให้สามารถดำเนินธุรกิจให้ประสบความสำเร็จได้
