Validity and reliability of self-care behavior assessment questionnaire for adolescent with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Abstract
The purposes of this research were to develop self-care behavior assessment for adolescent with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and to assess its content validity and reliability. The sample of 104 adolescent with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus aged between 10-18 years, received treatment at the in-patient and out-patient department in Siriraj Hospital, was purposively selected. The research tool was a self-care behavior assessment for adolescent with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus developed by the researcher. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Item-objective congruence [IOC] and Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The results were concluded as follows. 1) The self-care behavior assessment for adolescent with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus comprised 45 items in three sections: (1) 21 items in universal self-care section, (2) 6 items in developmental self-care section, and (3) 18 items in health deviation self care section. 2) The indexes of IOC were 0.6 to 1.0 and the Cronbach alpha coefficient was 0.73.
