The human milk is the best nutrient for a newborn. It has positive benefits for newborn growth and brain development due to the composition of human milk which has all required nutrients, vitamin, growth factors, and immune substance. Breastfeeding also create bonding attachment. Although many governmental and private agencies have been doing breastfeeding campaign, as the result, the trend of breastfeeding mothers is increasing, but it is still below the expected target. Postpartum nurses are the important personnel who can motivate more postpartum women to use breastfeeding. They needs to have knowledge, skills and take the role in helping postpartum mothers in her positioning, newborn’s proper sucking nipple in cases of normal and abnormal nipples as well as decreasing mother’s anxiety, increasing more confidence in breastfeeding and human milk quality. These can lead to the success in helping postpartum women to enroll their maternal role and gain successful breastfeeding.
