Reangsing, C.
Depression is a latent mental health problem which is commonly found among adolescents. Signs and symptoms of depression in adolescents are different from the adults. Physical illnesses, sadness, distress, lack of concentration, aggressive behavior, isolation, lack of attention to studies and use of addicted drugs are the major expression. Without prompt and proper caring, depression is likely to affect adolescents’ thought, emotion, behavior and social-life skills and frequently leads to suicide. School nurses who have proper knowledge and understanding on signs and symptoms of depression, its assessment, treatment guideline and their roles, will be able to help depressive adolescents to get prompt and appropriate caring as well as prevention for undesirable consequences.
