Results of Dental Health Services in Trang Province during 2011-2013

Abstract

This study provided an evaluation of dental health services in Trang province. The dental health personnel and dental unit, outcomes following dental fund indicators and dental health services. There were evaluated from the 43 files reports, sealant program and denture program during 2011 and 2013. The result showed an adequate number of dental nurses and dentist was nearly full. Moreover, the number of dental units in hospitals comparing to the dental health personnel were not enough, while number of dental units in health promoting hospital exceeded the number of dental health personnel. The outcomes following dental fund indicators reached their goals. The rate of dental visits (per 1,000 population) increased from 201.5 visits in 2010 to 297.7 visits in 2013. Additionally, rate of dental visits under universal healthcare coverage (per 1,000 population) increased from 183.2 visits in 2010 to 261.4 visits in 2013. This was more than the criteria set by the Ministry of Public Health which was 200 visits per 1,000 population. Even though the average number of patients (visits) per dental personnel per year increased from 1,370.2 visits in 2010 to 1,493.0 visits in 2013, the rate was under the criteria that set by the Ministry of Public Health which was 1,840 visits per person per year.
