Local Health Insurance Funds and Financial Support of Oral Health Promotion and Prevention in Nakornpathom Province during 2013-2014

Abstract

The descriptive study  was  to survey financial support  of  oral  health  promotion and prevention of  Nakornpathom Local Health Insurance Funds during 2013-2014. Data were  collected from 1) questionnaires for dental health personnel within the fund area and health officers at Sub-district health promoting hospitals. 2) interviewing local administrative organizations. The result showed 49.2% of health care units were supported by local health insurance funds. The supporting reason was to support the oral health project in local area (58.6%). The most supported target groups were early childhood and pre-school children followed by the elderly and school children. Financial support divided into toothbrush and toothpaste budget, dental material budget and conference budget. The key success factors to create a collaboration with local administrative organizations were 1) the local administrative aware of the important of the project (32.4%) 2) act together between every sectors and follow up (29.7%) and 3) people received enough suitable health care service (18.9%)
