Development of Fvidence-based Planning’s Processes to lmprove Children’s Oral Health (2553-2554)

Abstract

The research aims to clarify oral health information system in provincial level, enhance dental health personnel’s skill in revealing particularly risk factors of children’s dental caries, and encourage them to draw up evidence-based planning for solving children’s oral health problem. This project was responsible by Bureau of Dental Health, in collaborated by Regional Health Centers, and Provincial Health Offices. Methods of research consisted of regularly meetings, site visits , communication via internet, and occasional inquiry.

                The research revealed that to achieve objective in developing of evidence-based planning’s process to Improve children’s oral health, provincial dental health team needed three main supportive aspects. Firstly, clear scientific concept to solve oral health problem. Secondly, appropriated tool and methodology to collect data that reflect behaviors changing and oral health status of children in provincial level or other specific area. Lastly, enhancement of dental health personnel’ skills in causal-effect analysis and data management.

                This fact finding might not directly applicable to other province with difference situation and context. However, development techniques such as balanced emphasizing on both human and accomplishment, and reinforcing of fraternal relationship, were approved that they were appropriate and effective strategies for any province or area. Moreover, a number of documents and tools that were developed under this research such as : table of expected outcomes, tool and methodology for data collecting, data on oral health status of 0-12 year old children and risk factors, had been accepted that they were very useful as guideline for planning process at any level to solve children’s oral health problem.
