Effectiveness of plaque control for pregnancy women to dental caries inchildren age 6-30 months.

Abstract
This Quasi-experimental study aimed to describe prevalence of dental caries in Thai children 6-30 month of age and related of dental caries in children with plaque control for pregnancy women. Samples were pregnancy women who came to ante-natal care clinic (ANC) during 2003-2004 and children who came for vaccination at well baby clinic (WBC) when their aged 6 month, 9 month, 18 month and 30 month. Control group, pregnancy women had got oral examination and routine oral hygiene instruction. Study group, pregnancy women had got plaque control. Children had got oral examination. A number of 102 samples were derived and analyzed by Mann-Whitney U test. Results revealed that samples had dental caries problem 16.7%, 62.7% and mean of decay tooth (USD) 0.6-1.6, 3.2+3.7 in age 18 month and 30 month in order. It was also found the association between pregnancy women who were given plaque control and the increasing of mean decay teeth from age 18 month to 30 month (p<0.05). Hence parents or caregivers should be advised to attend oral health care program and hand-on training for parents to brush their children's teeth continuously and seriously.
