Explanation on Periodontal disease of Dental Health Utilization in Health Promotion Center, Chiang Rai Province.

Abstract
As periodontal diseases are chronic in nature, the successful periodontal treatment demands high level of patient cooperation. Patients' behaviors may be influenced by social believe and health system. The objective of this study was to study the explanation of periodontal disease by dental health utilizers in Oral Health Promotion Center, Chiang Rai province. A descriptive research was conducted by qualitative data collection. Twenty three subjects from the Oral Health Promotion Center were individually interviewed. The results showed that the explanation of dental health utilization on periodontal inflammation were swollen gum and painful. Calculus was believed to originated from precipitation of drinking water and teeth were able to drop off by age. The different of the explanation of periodontal disease between dentist and dental health utilizers should be concerned to lead to the effective process of periodontal therapy.
