FEASIBILITY STUDY OF ART TECHNIQUE IN A MOBILE DENTAL CLINIC. PETCHABOON PROVINCE
Main Article Content
Abstract
The ART technique is a restorative treatment of dental decay which WHO claim to be an appropiate technique. This study was designed to test the feasibility of ART in a mobile dental clinic in terms of coverage of service needed, cost, success rate, complications after treatment and the acceptance of this technique both by operators and patients. The service was given for 1 year by 13 dental teams going out 372 times serving 5,277 people. It was found that the ART can be used in 11.96% of work needed in mobile dental clinics and 54.60% of all restoration needed. The cost of ART per person was 44.31 Baht when calculated as an additional service of the mobile clinic. The success rate of the restoration was 80.90% after 1 year and 70.50% in terms of no secondary caries. This technique was well accepted by both patients (78.10%) and operators (84.60%). The operators complained that it took too much time, the removal of caries was difficult and they needed light and suction for future implementation
