วิถีการดำรงอยู่ของเรือนค้าขายพื้นถิ่นในตลาดบ้านแพน อำเภอเสนา จังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา

บทคัดย่อ

            เรือนค้าขายในชุมชนตลาดพื้นถิ่นมีหน้าที่รองรับกิจกรรมการค้าและการอยู่อาศัย ในแต่ละท้องถิ่นจะมีลักษณะของเรือนที่แตกต่างกันไป ตามวิถีการดำรงชีวิตของท้องถิ่นนั้น ๆ  อย่างไรก็ตาม ในช่วงหลายสิบปีที่ผ่านมากระแสการพัฒนาในหลายด้าน โดยเฉพาะการพัฒนาทางด้านเศรษฐกิจรูปแบบใหม่ (Modern trade) และการพัฒนาทางด้านคมนาคม ส่งผลต่อลักษณะของเรือนและแนวทางการดำรงชีวิตของคนในชุมชน ทำให้รูปแบบการใช้สอยพื้นที่ในชุมชนตลาดพื้นถิ่นมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงไป บทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อนำเสนอการปรับปรุงรูปแบบทางสถาปัตยกรรมและลักษณะชุมชน ที่สัมพันธ์กับวิถีชีวิตของคนในชุมชนตลาดพื้นถิ่น อันเป็นผลมาจากการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางสภาพแวดล้อม สังคม และเศรษฐกิจของท้องถิ่น

            ข้อมูลที่ใช้ในการศึกษานี้มาจากเอกสารที่เกี่ยวข้อง การสังเกต และการสัมภาษณ์ผู้ใช้สอยพื้นที่และผู้อยู่อาศัยในชุมชนตลาดบ้านแพน จังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา ชุมชนนี้ถูกเลือกเป็นกรณีศึกษาเนื่องจากเป็นชุมชนที่ยังคงมีกิจกรรมการค้าและการอยู่อาศัยโดยมีการปรับตัวให้สอดคล้องเงื่อนไขของท้องถิ่นมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง

          การศึกษานี้พบว่า การเปลี่ยนแปลงในชุมชนตลาดบ้านแพน มีทั้งระดับอาคาร และระดับชุมชน และสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงแนวทางการปรับตัว ที่สอดคล้องกันระหว่างวิถีชีวิตและสถาปัตยกรรม เพื่อตอบสนองกิจกรรมการค้าและกลไกทางสังคมของชุมชน  การศึกษาแสดงให้เห็นถึงการพึ่งพาอาศัยกันของคนในชุมชน ก่อให้เกิดพื้นที่ทางสังคมและการดูแลซึ่งกันและกัน อันเป็นข้อคิดสำคัญในการดำรงอยู่ท่ามกลางกระแสการพัฒนาด้านเศรษฐกิจในปัจจุบัน

Abstract

            Traditional shophouse, in the local commercial areas, serves both commercial and residential purposes. The architectural characters of shophouse vary from local to local, which depends on ways of life of that particular area. However, during the past several decades, many developments, including modern trade and communication, have effected to the characters of shophouse and the ways of life of local community.

            The objective of this article is to present changes of the relationship between building and community characteristics and the ways of life of local people, which have been effected by those developments.  The information in this study derived from documents, observations and interviews people who live in and utilize the space of Ban Pan Market, Ayutthaya province, since commercial and residential activities of this area have remained from the past, and have been adjusted to reflect the present.

          The study found that, the changing of Ban Pan Market, both at the architectural and the community levels, reflects the adjustment of the ways of life and the architecture consistently, in order to serve current trading and socializing system, to bring dependence of people, to construct their social space and to create taking care of each other. The major argument of this study intends to highlight the existence of traditional community amid of economic development.
