บทคัดย่อ

            ขั้นตอนการทำความเข้าใจอาคาร เป็นขั้นตอนที่มีความสำคัญเป็นอย่างมากในการดำเนินโครงการอนุรักษ์และปรับปรุงอาคารประวัติศาสตร์ ทั้งประเภทอาคารที่ยังคงการใช้งานและอาคารที่ถูกทิ้งร้าง เป็นการศึกษาเบื้องต้นของลักษณะทางกายภาพทั้งรูปแบบทางสถาปัตยกรรม วิธีการก่อสร้าง พัฒนาการของอาคารและสภาพอาคารขณะสำรวจ และการประเมินคุณค่า ที่นำไปสู่การวิเคราะห์และการจัดการอนุรักษ์ได้อย่างเหมาะสม อย่างไรก็ตาม ขั้นตอนการทำความเข้าใจอาคารในการปฏิบัติงานจริงอาจเปลี่ยนแปลงไปตามสภาวะการณ์ที่แตกต่างกัน เช่น ข้อจำกัดในการเข้าถึงอาคาร ระยะเวลาในการเตรียมงานและงบประมาณ ทั้งนี้สถาปนิกผู้ดำเนินงานจะต้องออกแบบวิธีการให้เหมาะสมในแต่ละกรณี วัตถุประสงค์ของการเขียนบทความนี้จึงเป็นการทบทวนวรรณกรรมด้านการทำความเข้าใจอาคารทางด้านสถาปัตยกรรม เพื่อสร้างกรอบและแนวทางในการทำความเข้าใจอาคาร ตลอดจนการศึกษาปัจจัยต่างๆในการทำความเข้าใจอาคาร สำหรับการเสนอแนวทางการอนุรักษ์และปรับปรุงอาคาร โดยการศึกษาในครั้งนี้ผู้วิจัยได้ศึกษาผ่านอาคารตัวอย่างกรณีตัวอย่างคือ อาคารโกดังหลุยส์ ที เลียวโนเวนส์

Abstract

               Understanding the building is one of significant practice in conservation and adaptation of historic building either occupied or redundant. The method of understanding the building is included the survey and record of building physicality, method of construction, building evolution and existing conditions of the site, which is led to the examination on conservation management. Pragmatically understanding of the building is persuaded in different situations due to the accessibility, project timeline, and budget. To make an appropriate decision on conservation method, the architect must understand this process clearly. The objective of this paper is to summarise the literature review of understanding the historic building regarding the study of architecture in order to set principle and guideline, and other related factors to understand building failure and potential for the further conservation and adaptation. The study is examined by the Louis T. Leonowens’ Godown.
