บทคัดย่อ

            การวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิเคราะห์คุณสมบัติที่ประจักษ์ได้ด้วยการมองเห็นจากพระพุทธรูปสุโขทัยโดยมีจุดประสงค์เพื่อนำเสนอลักษณะของคุณสมบัติต่าง ๆ ทางทัศนศิลป์ที่สัมพันธ์กับความหมายอุดมคติทางศาสนาอันเป็นส่วนประกอบสำคัญต่อการรับรู้สุนทรียภาพในศิลปกรรมอันทรงคุณค่านี้  ถึงแม้ว่าลักษณะทางสุนทรียภาพจะเป็นนามธรรมที่ไม่สามารถระบุเป็นขอบเขตหรือระดับที่เกิดขึ้นในแต่ละปัจเจกบุคคลได้  แต่ปฏิกิริยาการรับรู้ของมนุษย์ต่อลักษณะของทัศนธาตุเป็นผลลัพธ์ทางจิตวิทยาหนึ่งที่มนุษย์สามารถรับความรู้สึกได้ใกล้เคียงกัน  ฉะนั้นถ้าวิเคราะห์คุณสมบัติทางทัศนธาตุที่ให้ความรู้สึกบางประการได้สอดคล้องกับความหมายที่เป็นอุดมคติ ผลลัพธ์ที่ได้อาจเป็นเครื่องมือตรวจสอบคุณค่าทางสุนทรียภาพในพระพุทธรูปสุโขทัยได้อย่างเป็นเหตุผล

            ขั้นตอนการวิเคราะห์ได้แบ่งไว้เป็น 3 ลำดับขั้นตอนโดยเริ่มจากการพรรณนาภาพรวมของพระพุทธรูปสุโขทัย  ในส่วนแรกนี้ผู้วิจัยได้นำเนื้อหาการพรรณนาถึงความงดงามของพระพุทธรูปสุโขทัยซึ่งกล่าวโดยศาสตราจารย์ศิลป์ พีระศรี เป็นข้อมูลเบื้องต้น  จากนั้นในขั้นตอนที่สองผู้วิจัยได้เทียบเคียงเนื้อหาจากการพรรณนาร่วมกับการวิเคราะห์คุณสมบัติทางทัศนศิลป์ที่สามารถรับรู้ได้ทางสายตา  ขั้นตอนสุดท้ายผู้วิจัยได้แปลความหมายพระพุทธรูปสุโขทัยจากเนื้อหาการพรรณนาคุณสมบัติทางทัศนศิลป์และลักษณะทางอุดมคติประกอบร่วมกัน  ผลสรุปที่ได้จากการวิจัยพอจะเป็นตัวอย่างแนวทางหนึ่งที่ชี้ให้เห็นว่าเนื้อหาจากการพรรณนาคุณค่าและความงดงามในพระพุทธรูปสุโขทัยนั้น  ถ้านำคุณลักษณะทางทัศนศิลป์และลักษณะทางอุดมคติมาพิจารณาประกอบร่วมด้วยกันจะทำให้สามารถเข้าใจความหมายเชิงคุณค่าและความงามของพระพุทธรูปสุโขทัยได้ดียิ่งขึ้น

 Abstract

            This research is to analyze the visual properties of Sukhothai Bhuddha images to present the aesthetic qualities that related to the meanings of religious ideals which are important integral to the valuable aesthetic perceptions.

            Although the aesthetic qualities are abstract that cannot be identified for individual’s quantity of perception but the reactions of human’s visual perception are result from psychological meaning to get similar feeling. Therefore, if an analysis of the visual fine art elements can give some meanings consistent to the ideal meanings, the result from this analysis could be a valuable tool to investigate the aesthetic value of Sukhothai Bhuddha images logically.

            The analysis was divided into three steps. The first one, preliminary study was an overview description of the beauty of the Sukhothai Buddha image studied from Professor Silp Bhirasri’s viewpoint. The second step was to compare the descriptive qualities with the visual aesthetic elements and then analyze the meaning of religious ideals of Sukhothai Buddha image using the principle of visual arts. The third step was to interpret the description of visual aesthetic features integrated with the meaning of religious ideals in Sukhothai Buddha images. The result revealed that the visual aesthetic features and the meaning of the religious ideal in Sukhothai Buddha images were in relation in several reasons. This indicated that integrated study from these two attributes, the visual aesthetic features and the meaning of the religious ideal of aesthetic, can lead to have more appreciation in the meaning of the value and the beauty of Sukhothai Buddha images.
