Abstract

ABSTRACT

The quality of work life affects work motivation and work success. There are many factors affecting the quality of work life. This research aimed to study factors affecting and predicting dentist’s quality of work life in Ministry of Public Health in central region, Thailand. Data were collected with questionnaires mailed to 272 dentists. Frequency, mean, standard deviation, and the stepwise multiple regression analysis were under taken for data analysis. The results revealed that dentists’ quality of work life was high level for 2.6 percent, moderate level for 52.9 percent, and low level for 44.5 percent. Working condition, role of professional association, working place, and working position positively affected the assessment of quality of work life and could predict the dentists’ quality of work life at 42.9 percent.

Gender, age, marrital status, educational level, work experience, dental work, other work, and number of patients did not affect the dentists’ quality of work life. Therefore, the improvement of dentists’ quality of work life should be considered about working condition, role of professional association that support dental occupation, and dentist career advancement.
