Abstract

ABSTRACT

From the nuisance statistics recorded by Pollution Control Department, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the problem, which has been complained the most, is odor nuisance. This is because air pollution problem has been expanded to many areas in Thailand and human pose a sense of smell serving as the early warning system. For odor nuisance investigations, inspectors always face some difficulties due to several related factors. Therefore, various investigation methods should be applied in order to collect evidences leading to a fair decision making such as sensory test, chemical concentration measurement and numbers of complaints. Although there are several standards or laws and regulations released from several governmental organizations in Thailand, investigators still have troubles because of lacking of instruments, experts and clear-cut criteria. Therefore, thoroughly studying several clear investigation guidelines and decision criteria from other countries such as USA, Japan and EU countries and appropriately apply to our country further need to be developed.
