Abstract

ABSTRACT

This study interviewed the work-related risk factors and health effects of 10 nail salon workers in Tambol Banleuk, Amphur Banpong, Ratchaburi Province. The air sampling and analysis from the working conditions was performed. The results showed that chemical such as toluene and butyl acetate in nail polish and nail polish removers and musculoskeletal disorder problem were their significant risk factors according to their health symptoms such as back and shoulder pain, irritation of eye and skin headache and dizziness. However, the result of chemical concentration was below than those of NIOSH standard. It might be because of the proper general and or natural ventilation of the salon shops. From this study, it showed that work station of nail salon workers should be redesigned to reduce chemical and musculoskeletal hazard.
