Abstract

This cross-sectional descriptive research aims to determine obesity and overweight: knowledge level, attitude and behavior in obesity and overweight among university students of Health Sciences Major, Sisaket Rajabhat University. The data was collected via Google Form(September 1-30, 2021). There were 244 respondents (58.9%). The data was analyzed by using percentage, average and standard deviation.
The results showed that 32 percent of the university students were obese and overweight. Their overall knowledge about obesity and overweight was at high level [x ̅(S.D) =1.87(0.06)]. The attitude level was at medium level [x ̅(S.D) =2.46(0.06)]. The students were found to have the wrong attitude towards dietary understanding.
The behavior level was at medium level [x ̅(S.D) =2.53(0.08)]. The most common risk behaviors to obesity and overweight were rest, food consumption and daily physical activity.
Nearly one-third of the respondents were found to be overweight and obese. Thus, the students should be provided with correct dietary attitudes to promote good dietary habits, and increase physical activity in students to reduce the risks of obesity and overweight.
