A Development of Ventilator Associated Pneumonia prevention model for Cancer patients, Udon Thani Cancer Hospital

This research aimed to study an Associated Pneumonia Preventive Model with the use of mechanical ventilation in cancer patients, Udon Thani Cancer Hospital, during July to August 2018. The sample consisted of 14 patients using a mechanical ventilator and 10 nurses in intensive care units. The instrument consisted of 2 parts: 1) data collection tools and 2) tools used to promote the practice. Analyzed by using percentages, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis. The results showed that an Associated Pneumonia Preventive Model increased Ventilator Associated Pneumonia to a high level, including 1) effective hand washing, 2) resting and reversing, 3) Mucus 4) care of the feeding tube 5) cleaning of the mouth and teeth 6) care of the tube and breathing apparatus. After promotion of the use of nursing practice guidelines for Ventilator Associated Pneumonia in intensive care units, moreover, it can reduce infected rate of 13.3 times per 1000 days to 0 times per 1,000 days
