Factors related to the Iodine Consumption Behaviors of Pregnant, Kut Chap District, UdonThani
Abstract
The descriptive study purposed to study the level of knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of iodine consumption and the relationship between personal factors, knowledge and attitude with consumption of iodine consumers of pregnant women in Kut Chap District, Udon Thani Province. The total of 71 chosen as the sample. The instrument is questionnaire developed by the researcher which was the test for validity and had high reliability (coefficient alpha of Cronbach = 0.84). The data percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, Chi-square Test and PearsonProductMomentCorrelation Coefficient were used at this study.
The results indicated that almost all sample were between 20-35 years old, representing 76.06%. Most of them were employment (42.25%) and 45.25% Highest graduated was secondary school Their income was between 5000-10000 Bath/mount 43.66%. The first antenatal gestational age lower 12 weeks 73.24%. They were pregnant in second time 39.44% and 77.47% lived in the extended family. All of them were received information about iodine from public health officials. The knowledge of iodine had high level average response rate was 78.87%. The attitudes of iodine had high level (= 3.62 S.D. = 0.98) and the behavior of iodine consumer was at the highest level (= 4.66 S.D. = 0.70). The study shown level of education was related as the health care behavior significance at .05 levels. There was a statistically significant relationship between knowledge to iodine consumption behaviors of pregnant (p<.05, r=.326).
