Factors associated with the prevention and control behavior of dengue hemorrhagic fever among BAN NONG I BAO people, Khon Yung Subdistrict, Kut chap District, Udon Thani

Abstract

A Cross-sectional survey research aimed to study the factors associated with behavior of disease prevention and control of dengue hemorrhagic fever among people in Ban Nong I Bao, Khon Yung Subdistrict, Kut Chap District, Udon Thani Province. The data were collected from 374 samples by simple sampling method whereof the tools used in the study was a questionnaire with characterized as valuation model (Rating Scale) four levels and were verified by three experts. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was 0.97. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient and chi-square analyzed test. Samples were female (79.20%) primary education (62.50%). farmers (69.70%).  There was the disease of DHF in a family (54.9%), information channel in community were village health volunteer (92.30%). The predisposing factors, enabling factors, reinforcing factors and behavior of disease prevention and control of dengue hemorrhagic fever as a whole showed the predisposing factors, enabling factors, reinforcing factors and behavior of disease prevention and control of dengue hemorrhagic fever were in high level (69.30%, 86.90%, 76.60% and 76.30%). The predisposing factors, namely, knowledge (r=-0.148, p=0.014), attitude (r=0.184, p=0.002) were significantly correlated with behavior of disease prevention and control of dengue hemorrhagic fever (p≤0.05). The enabling factors, namely, resource availability (r=0.556, p<0.001), resource utilization skills (r=0.788, p<0.001) and reinforcing factors, namely, reinforcing information (r=0.680, p<0.001) were significantly correlated with behavior of disease prevention and control of dengue hemorrhagic fever (p≤0.05), no significant correlated between perception and behavior of disease prevention and control of dengue hemorrhagic fever.
