Factors Related to Hypersensitivity Reactions of Cancer Patients with Receiving Paclitaxel Chemotherapy

Abstract

The research is a descriptive and retrospective study of cancer patients receiving Paclitaxel chemotherapy. The purpose of this study was to investigate the association with hypersensitivity reactions in patients receiving Paclitaxel. Subjects include cancer patients 60 patients, who were divided into two groups, thirty patients in the group received the Paclitaxel chemotherapy all had hypersensitivity reactions. Thirty patients in the group received the Paclitaxel chemotherapy all had not hypersensitivity reactions from May 2018 to 31 October 2018. The subjects were randomly selected by using a double-randomization method for 60 patients with hypersensitivity. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics consisting of frequencies, percentages, and Chi-Square Test to compare 2 groups of characteristics. The results of the research showed that;

  1. General information for the majority of patients are male 80.23%, 55 years of age, accounting for 55.56%, the average age is 55.11 years. The body mass index is in the range of 25.0 - 29.9, accounting for 32.56%. The majority of patients had not underlying disease, accounting for 51.16%.
  2. Most patients with Hypersensitivity reactions received second line treatment, representing 53.33%. The average dose received is 30 CC. The duration of Hypersensitivity reactions and occurs after starting the Paclitaxel for about 17 minutes, and most are in grade 2, accounting for 76.67%.

3. Relationship between factors of patients, disease characteristics and treatment of hypersensitivity found that were not significantly associated with the occurrence of Hypersensitivity reactions
