The development of Pap smear screening model in ARV clinic, Nongkhai Hospital

This action research aimed to explore 1) Pap smear screening situation 2) developed Pap smear screening model and 3) evaluated the results of using Pap smear screening model in ARV clinic Nongkhai Hospital. Purposive sampling technic was used. The samples were 245 women who received ARV at ARV clinic Nongkhai Hospital. Research instruments consisted of 1) Pap smear screening model and flip picture of cervical cervix (CA cervix) knowledge which CVI from 3 experts was 0.80. Data collection instruments were demographic data collecting form, semi structure interview form for Pap smear screening service barrier which CVI was 1.0, CA cervix knowledge and attitude for Pap smear screening test form which Cronbach’s alpha were 0.84 and 0.79 and satisfaction assessment form.
Results: 1) Pap smear screening situation of women who received ARV at ARV clinic Nongkhai Hospital was 76.3%, screened for Pap smear and 62 % had previously Pap smear screened more than 1 year and had abnormal result 3.2 %. 2) The Pap smear screening model consisted of modified Pap smear services and instructed CA cervix knowledge. 3) The resulted by using Pap smear screening model: attitude for Pap smear screening was medium level, 48.2%, knowledge of women who received ARV increased significantly score (p<0.01), regarding to participants satisfaction of the development of Pap smear screening model result was h 87.4 (S.D.= 4.6). Pap smear screening service barrier were too many service procedures, appointments and participants were inconvenient to get their result themselves as they live provincial area 27.4%.
