Abstract

The action research aimed to develop a model for promoting practices to prevent drug-resistant organism infection among nursing personnel in Phonpisai District, Nongkhai Province. Collaborative quality improvement was used during model development. The research was conducted between January and June 2020. The samples were 2 groups including 25 persons who  were the model development team consisted of infection control doctors, infection control nurses, infection control ward nurses. The study sample included 105 person, consists of a team of nursing personnel of Phon Phisai Hospital and Tambon Health Promoting Hospital nursing personnel.  The research instruments consisted of guideline for management of multidrug-resistant organisms in health care settings, an opinion questionnaire on the model for promoting drug-resistant organism infection prevention practices, and the drug-resistant organism infection prevention practices observation form. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics.

             The results found that: The model for promoting drug-resistant organism infection prevention practices  consisted of 6 main activities: 1) providing workshops; 2) reviewing personnel knowledge; 3) evaluation and feedback; 4) reminder posters; 5) supporting personal protective equipment and medical instruments; and 6) hand hygiene campaigns.
