Effects of Knowledge and Skills Development of Professional Nurses in Assessing Patient with Sepsis. Inpatient Department Phon Phisai Hospital, Nong Khai Province

The objectives of this action research were to study the knowledge and skills of professional nurses in using SOS Score in assessing patients with sepsis. Data were collected from 25 registered nurses. The study was conducted between March 2, 2020 to March 2, 2021, the research instruments consisted of the SOS Score assessment with multiple-choice questions, practical skills assessments questionnaires, which with KR 0.83, the satisfaction questionnaires with Alpha Cronbach 0.86. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, median, statistics for comparison of differences by wilcoxon matched pairs signed ranks test. Quality data analyzed by content analyzis.
The results of the research revealed that Before the development of the SOS Score of the sample, it was found that the median of knowledge score was 6.0 (IQR = 3.0), the score was between 4-10 points. The knowledge score after development has a median of 10.0. (IQR = 0.0). After development, there was a statistically significant. (p-value< 0.001). The skill score for assessing SOS Score after training was found to be statistically significant.(p-value <0.001). The satisfaction with the Sos Score was a high level, it was a good multidisciplinary coordination, 72.0 percent of the trust with the colleagues, 68.0 percent of participation in patient care planning with the physicians. The sample group commented that the Sos Score can be used to assess the patient's symptoms promptly and leading to appropriate treatment.
