Abstract

The action research were to compare the knowledges, attitudes and behaviors of the hospital - associated infection prevention and control among registry nurses, before and after the development of the system of hospital - associated infection prevention and control. The samples were 15 registry nurses working at Namsom hospital. The quantitative data were collected using the questionnaires and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired t-test. The qualitative data were collected using the opened-end questions and were analyzed using content analysis.
The study found that the system development process included planning, doing, checking and action. This process
constructed the guidelines for preventing and controlling the hospital - associated infection. The components of each guideline included: 1) the rights of patients; patient assessments; clinical guidelines for performing the procedure to patients; the educations of infection prevention; and the development of health care services. The average score, before and after the development, the attitudes and behaviors for preventing and controlling the hospital - associated infection was .01 statistically different and also knowledge average score was .05 statistically differently. These results concluded that the development system could construct the effective guidelines for control and prevention of hospital - associated infection. Nurses should use these guidelines for planning to care the patients who were performed the healthcare procedures.
