Development of Nursing Practice Guidelines for Emergency Care and Referral of Accident Patients in Trauma Fast Track, Ban Phue Hospital, Udon Thani Province

Abstract

This quasi-experimental study aimed to develop clinical nursing practice guidelines for emergency care and referral of accident patients in trauma fast track, Ban Phue hospital, Udon Thani province.. Sample study of 28 nursing practice guideline, patient sample who come to the emergency department who are nursed using the Accident Emergency Nursing Practice Guideline of Ban Phue Hospital of pre-

development services 28 patients, after developing 42 patients. Instruments used were trauma fast track nursing practice guidelines, nurse questionnaire and the outcome record form of services for patients with multi-trauma. Using statistics including: percentages, means, standard deviation and paired samples T-Test.

Results: after development shown after developing the practice guidelines for emergency accident patients, it was significantly different from before development (p<0.05), the most were: the outcomes of with multi-trauma patient service were different from those before the development, the most was the identified life threaten condition level 73.7%, the identified level of emergency increased 28.6%. Emergency level identification increased by 28.6 percent and the rate of misclassification of injuries decreased 21.4%. After applying the Emergency Accident Nursing Practice Guideline, the effect on service outcomes resulted in a statistically significant increase in the accuracy of the severity of injury identification at <0.05. 

Conclusion: After the development of nursing, the quality of emergency accident work.  And after applying the Emergency Accident Nursing Practice Guideline, there was a significant increase in the outcome of the service work, resulting in a statistically significant increase in the accuracy of the level of injury severity identification
