The Role of Nurses in Health Promotion and Prevention for Slowing Progression of Chronic Kidney Disease in Stage 3-4 CKD Patient
Abstract
Currently, chronic kidney disease is a serious public health problem. There are many chronic kidney disease patients in Thailand. This affects patients both physically, mentally, as well as socially, and the cost of medical care is higher. From the problems mentioned above, it is necessary to promote health care and prevent kidney failure to slow progression in patients with chronic kidney disease. Especially for patients in stage 3-4, it helps prevent them from entering the end stage of chronic kidney disease that requires dialysis treatment which is a costly treatment. The health team, especially professional nurses, therefore plays an important role in promoting health care and preventing kidney progression in patients with chronic kidney disease stage 3-4, by recommending the patient to behavior modification, ongoing treatment, rational drug use, including monitoring of clinical signs and symptoms suggestive of renal impairment and provides a program to educate patients on behavioral health behavior modifications to slow down kidney disease. Creating awareness based on health beliefs model and health promotion to slow progress kidney, as well as being a coordinator in the health team to better provide and more efficient care for patients with chronic kidney disease have a better quality of life.
