Coping with stress among nursing students undertaken the Elderly Nursing Practice Course Boromarajonani College of Nursing Udon Thani

This descriptive study aimed to investigate the stress and coping with the stress of students in the Elderly Nursing Practice Course. There were 94 nursing students from Boromarajonani College of Nursing participated in this study. The data were collected via questionnaires: 1) Department of Mental Health Stress Measurement Form; 2) Jalowiec Coping Scale; and 3) The Stress and Coping Questionnaire, which was an open-ended questionnaire. Cronbach’s alpha in this study ranged from 0.83 to 0.85 across two measurements. The Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and the qualitative data were verified by content analysis
The results showed that 55.3% had a high-stress level, 29.8% had a moderate stress level, 11.7% had a severe stress level and 3.2% had a low-stress level. The highest stress was the theoretical and practical learning ( = 2.82, S.D.=0.62), which accounted for 56.4%. There was no stress in the teams 39.4 % ( = 1.97, S.D.=0.58). The most used coping strategy was the problems solving 66.00% ( = 3.30, S.D.=0.93); while the least coping strategy was coping with emotional management49.2 % ( = 2.46, S.D.=0.06). The students adapted themselves to the situation by consulting the teacher and conducting various activities
