Abstract

Jaundice is common in newborns. It must be assessed and treated promptly. This research aimed to develop a guideline for assessing jaundice and examine the effects of implementing the developed guideline. The sample consisted of 240 newborns and postpartum mothers at Yasothon Hospital and 8 professional nurses. The study was conducted between 1 December 2020 and 31 May 2021. The development of the guideline was based on the IOWA Model. 1) Situation analysis showed that the assessment and assistance was delayed, and the infants did not receive adequate milk, which led to increased jaundice. 2) The development of an expert review guideline (R1D1) resulted in an early assessment of jaundice but the procedure was difficult.
