The purposes of this research and development were: 1) to develop an ER patient screening model by using a computer program at Dansai Crown Prince Hospital and 2) to study effects of using the ER patient screening model by using the computer program.
The sample included 750 clients whom received service at the ER Department and they were selected by Only those who receive services at the emergency department according to the specified criteria sampling. Research tools consisted of two types: 1) an ER patient screening model by using the computer program and 2) a form for collecting a list of patients in each shift. The patients were separated according to their severity. The research tools were verified by three experts for content validity. Its validities were ranged between 0.5-1.0. The data analysis was done by using descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation).
The results of this study were as follows. 1) The ER patient screening model by using the computer program is efficient. It is convenient to key in data and also assess easily. Working on the program can save time, resources, and man power. 2) The model can screen severity levels of patients correctly from 69.47% to 98.50%. There is no incidence of wrong screening.
