The Effective of Single Session Solution - Focused Therapy Program on Depression Among Village Health Volunteers

Single Session Solution - Focused Therapy Program, Depressive Symptoms, Village Health VolunteersAbstract
Introduction: Depression is a significant concern among Village Health Volunteers (VHVs), who carry a high community workload and experience stress arising from multiple overlapping roles.
Research Objectives: To examine the effect of a Single-Session Solution-Focused Therapy program on depression levels among VHVs.
Research Methodology: This study employed a one-group pretest–posttest quasi-experimental design. The sample consisted of 30 VHVs presenting with mild to moderate depression, selected through purposive sampling. Research instruments included a Single-Session Solution-Focused Therapy program and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). Data were collected at three time points: before the intervention, two weeks after the intervention, and at a one-month follow-up. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, given that the data did not follow a normal distribution.
Results: Mean depression scores decreased significantly two weeks after the intervention and continued to decline through the one-month follow-up period, with all differences reaching statistical significance at the 0.001 level.
Conclusion: The Single-Session Solution-Focused Therapy program proved to be an appropriate and effective approach for reducing depression among VHVs, with treatment gains observed at two weeks post-intervention and sustained at the one-month follow-up.
Implications: This program may be applied in community-level public health practice with minimal resource requirements. Future efforts should consider expanding its implementation to other areas, as well as investigating its efficacy further through randomized controlled trial designs.
