The Effects of Thai Herbal Paste on Knee Pain in Elderly with Osteoarthritis

This quasi-experimental research aimed to evaluate the effect of Thai herbal paste on reducing knee pain in the elderly with osteoarthritis. The research instruments used for data collection were a general information form and health status and pain scales. Data analysis emplyed descriptive statistics and paired t-tests.
The results showed that after using Thai herbal paste the mean knee pain score for the elderly with osteoarthritis decreased significantly (p < .001). We conclude that Thai herbal paste can reduce knee pain, joint stiffness, and get up time to walk, which can increase knee function. This study indicated that Thai herbal paste can be an effective alternative treatment for knee pain in elderly with osteoarthritis.
