This research aims to study the predictive factors of long COVID occurrence in a group of patients after COVID-19 infection. A simple random sampling method was used to recruit the sample of 129 patients after affected with covid-19 in Surin province. Research instruments included questionnaires to gather data for demographic information and a long COVID questionnaire. Data were collected during the period of March to December 2023. Descriptive statistics and stepwise multiple regression analysis were used to analyze the data.
The results revealed that the most common long COVID symptom is fatigue, with 70 cases (54.3%). This is followed by exhaustion, with 66 cases (51.2%), and easy fatigue, with 65 cases (50.4%). The significant predictors of long covid-19 among patients after affected with covid-19 were underlying health conditions (b = .204) and severity of the disease (b = .477). These predictors could together explain 26.3% of the variance in long covid-19 among patients after affected with covid-19 (R2 = 0.263, p < .001).
These findings suggest that health care providers should monitor and care for COVID-19 patients with underlying conditions and those with severe disease after COVID-19 infection.
