Journal History

The Journal was established in 1997 by Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council as the Thai Journal of Nursing Research (ISSN 0859-7685) for the purpose of disseminating nursing research in the Thai language.  However, the English language was used for the articles from 2005 onward.   In 2007 the Journal was listed in the CINAHL data base. In 2010, the name was changed to the Pacific Rim International Journal of Nursing Research. This was done to broaden the distribution of nursing and health knowledge, and attract more readers and authors in the Pacific Rim who share many common values and believes regarding holistic nursing knowledge and practice. Furthermore, the need for an international nursing journal in English was evidenced by the immigration of nurses who attended graduate nursing education programs, those conducting nursing research, and practicing around this region.

In striving to improve our journal to be truly international PRIJNR, we invited Professor Dr. Sue Turale from Australia to join the journal as an editor.  She has a long and reputable experience as Editor of International Nursing Review, and was formerly Editor-in-Chief of Nursing & Health Sciences, both journals with an international standing and an impact factor.  Today, PRIJNR has an Editorial Board reflecting international members with a wealth of research, publishing experience, and clinical practice. It is printed in both hard copy and is fully online and open access.
