Abstract

Home environment is an important determinant of health among older adults. Physical and psychological changes make the environmental needs of older age differ from those of other age groups. The home environmental management is an undertaking of care, improvement, and transformation in order to make the physical environment in and around the home facilitate health promotion and health problems prevention among older adults. The significant concepts of home environmental management are healthy housing, person-environment fit, and place integration. Focusing on the roles of community health nurses, the process of home environmental management consists of 5 steps such as assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of home environment.
