Keywords:
Clinical risk management, Work motivation, Participative managementAbstract
The purposes of this descriptive research were to study 1) the level of clinical risk management, knowledge about clinical risk management, work motivation, and participative management of registered nurses, and 2) the relationship between factors and clinical risk management of registered nurses. The data of 41 participants were collected through the research instruments which were the knowledge test about risk management and questionnaires of work motivation, participative management, and clinical risk management. The data were then analyzed by using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s product-moment correlation. The study findings revealed as follows:
1. The mean scores on clinical risk management, work motivation, and participative management were at the low level (M=2.46, SD=0.56; M=2.48, SD=0.66; M=2.41, SD=0.59, respectively). Whereas, the mean score on knowledge about clinical risk management was at the moderate level (M=13.05, SD=1.88).
2. The work motivation was high significantly positively correlated with clinical risk management (r=.713, p<.01). The participative management and knowledge about clinical risk management were moderate significantly positively correlated with clinical risk management (r =.603, p<.05; r = 0.522, p< .05, respectively).
Therefore, nursing administrators should encourage work motivation, knowledge about clinical risk management, and participative management that would promote the clinical risk management competencies of registered nurses.
